MSR AutoFlow Cartridge Replacement Filter Cartridge
The MSR AutoFlow Replacement Filter Cartridge is a lightweight replacement component for the MSR AutoFlow and AutoFlow XL Gravity Filter systems, designed to restore optimal flow rates . The cartridge utilizes 0.2-micron hollow fiber technology to remove 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa (such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium) as well as particulates, meeting EPA standards and NSF Protocol P231 . The filter provides a flow rate of up to 1.75 liters per minute and has a total cartridge life of approximately 1,500 liters, though turbid water conditions may reduce its useful life to 1,000–1,200 liters . The cartridge is fully field-maintainable and does not require tools for cleaning; regular backflushing with filtered water removes debris and restores performance . It is important to note that this filter does not remove viruses, chemicals, heavy metals, or pesticides, and the cartridge should never be allowed to freeze after initial use, as this will permanently damage the internal hollow fibers .
